A few days after knowing that Lagar d’Amprius has entered the Spanish Wine Guide ¨Sin Mala Uva¨ 2018, news has been received that its Garnacha 2014 has won a Silver Medal in the First edition of the Supremum Wine Contest that pretends to make evident the existence of the extraordinary and excellent wines that are in Spain, celebrated on October 19 in Madrid.
Lagar d’Amprius Garnacha has obtained Silver Medal in a contest that confirms the trend towards quality wines at reasonable prices in our country. The Turolense red wine has competed with another 174 wines of great quality, representing a large number of Denominations of Origin of Spain, and reached the final valuations a total of 73 wines. 22 medals were awarded, among which is the one of Lagar d’Amprius, in addition to 3 mentions of honor.
It is the first time that this contest is held whose main objective is to select and publicize the wines of the highest excellence of our country, establishing as a requirement that the sale price is higher than 10 €. The seriousness and professionalism of the jury, made up of the most prominent journalists and sommeliers and presided over by one of the most important winemakers in Spain, Jesús Flores (winemaker, sommelier, sommelier trainer and director of the Spanish Wine Aula, among others) endorse the quality and reliability of this contest.
The first edition of the Supremum Wine Contest has shown the high level of excellent Spanish wines. The final tasting of this new contest and jury ratings have highlighted that the current trend is not reduced to making cheap wines, the quality at reasonable prices is the future. Winemakers, such as those responsible for Lagar d’Amprius, are looking for excellence in their products, and this can be seen in the numerous awards granted in each and every one of the categories included.
This contest, in addition to considering all the quality parameters of the international organizations of the wine and the competitions, performs scores on presentation, packaging design, added values and price, so that the resulting values approach the purchase- sale in food stores and specialty stores, among other distribution channels.

The awards ceremony will be held on November 6 at the Miguel Ángel Hotel in Madrid.
